Shannon Chamber declare support for Enterprise Acceleration Centre
On her recent visit to the Enterprise Acceleration Centre, Triona McInerney, Chief Executive of Shannon Chamber of Commerce congratulated Limerick Institute of Technology on their excellent new facility located on campus for business start-ups. “The Chamber is delighted to support the START UP BOOT CAMPs being held over the next two weeks in LIT's new enterprise start-up facility. There is a notable trend that people are increasingly looking to embrace the challenges and rewards of establishing and running their own businesses. Support in terms of finances, strategic planning and management development during the early stages of development is a wise investment by Ireland Inc. The building and associated services on offer at the Enterprise Acceleration Centre will be welcomed by start-up entrepreneurs and demonstrates the practical benefits of investment in this region under the National Development Plan. It is heartening that people residing in Clare and working in Ennis, Shannon and Limerick are attending these workshops. It highlights the close relationship between the economies of Clare and Limerick which often focuses simply on Shannon Airport. With the Ennis bypass coming on stream in the coming weeks, Limerick Institute of Technology will be even more accessible to both students and companies in Clare. The Chamber strongly believes that the National Spatial Strategy is fundamentally correct in stating that Clare and Limerick can work together for the benefit of both counties and indeed form the basis of a new economic corridor between Limerick/Shannon and Galway if significant investment is provided in the next national development plan.” Enterprise Acceleration Centre Manager, Donncha Hughes explained that START UP BOOT CAMP 32 which takes place on the 18th November is sold out. He added: "There is huge interest from individuals interested in setting up their own businesses in practical experience based training provided by professionals in their field at times which suit people’s hectic lifestyles. We have 20 participants booked onto BOOT CAMP 32. The majority are from all parts of Limerick, but we have one based in Cork and another in Dublin attending and we have four living in Clare who are currently working in Shannon, Ennis and Limerick. It is also interesting and encouraging that there is equal representation between male and female participants." Donncha Hughes concluded that places are still available for START UP BOOT CAMP 33 which takes place on the 25th November next. "The BOOT CAMP is an intensive full day interactive workshop designed to assist people who are starting a business or have started in the last six months to ensure business success by tackling key issues such as finance, cashflow and most importantly how to win and retain customers in the early stages of business development. Full details of the day are available on our website www.lit.ie/eac and bookings can be made by emailing eac@lit.ie or phone 061 490151."
